CHAPTER 13

Revelation 13:1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
Revelation 13:2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
The beast is the antichrist and is a man when he appears on the earth. John is standing on the sand of the sea which is the seed of Abraham. He sees a beast which has seven heads and ten horns. The heads are seven mountains or seven kingdoms with seven kings. The seven kingdom are the seven kingdoms in the past that have been against God and His people. If we start with the first kingdom that came against Israel then we would starts with Egypt, Assyria, Babylonia, Media-Persia, Greece, Roman, the Kingdom of Satan of which the beast comes out of and becomes the eight when he goes into perdition. Revelation 17:9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth. Revelation 17:10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space. Revelation 17:11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition. The five that are fallen are Egypt, Assyria, Babylonia, Media-Persia, Greece. When John see the vision Roman was in power and the next kingdom is of Satan. Revelation 17:12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. The ten kings are the ten toes on the image in the Book of Daniel. These kings are on earth when the anti-christ rides in to take over. These ten kings are fallen angels because the mingle them self with the seed of men just like they did in Genesis Chapter 6. Daniel 2:43 And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.

In Daniel’s vision of the four beasts, they come up out of the great sea. The great sea is the Mediterranean Sea unless otherwise identified. When we compare what Daniel saw and the description John saw in his vision, we can see they saw the same thing.
Daniel 7:2 Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea.
Daniel 7:3 And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another.
Daniel 7:4 The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man's heart was given to it.
Daniel 7:5 And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.
Daniel 7:6 After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.
Daniel 7:7 After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.
The beast was represented as a leopard that had the feet of a bear and the mouth of a lion. When he appeared he reigned over the ten kings and the ten kingdoms. He received all his power from the dragon because when he came the first time he was Satan incarnate. When the beast is resurrected out of the bottomless pit, Satan will incarnate himself in this man at the mid-point of the tribulation period and he will become part of the unholy trinity. Remember that Satan has a counterfeit for every thing the Lord has.

Revelation 16:13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
1. The dragon: Satan the father 2. Beast: Satan the son. 3. False prophet: Satan the unclean spirit.
We can also find the unholy trinity in the OT. 1. Balak: the false king is a type of antichrist. 2. Balaam: The false prophet. 3. Baal: the dragon
Numbers 22:41 And it came to pass on the morrow, that Balak took Balaam, and brought him up into the high places of Baal, that thence he might see the utmost part of the people.

Here what we know in the scripture about the beast or the antichrist:

1. We know his name: Judas Iscariot John 6:70 Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil? John 17:12: While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled. 2 Thessalonians 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
2. We know his mark: A black spot. Remember that Satan has a counterfeit for everything the Lord has. How did the Lord mark his people that had did what they should have done?  Ezekiel 9:4 And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof. Jeremiah 13:23 Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots?  Then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil. Deuteronomy 32:5 They have corrupted themselves, their spot is not the spot of his children: they are a perverse and crooked generation. 2 Peter 2:13 And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceiving while they feast with you; Ephesians 5:27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. The false prophet will mark the people in his religious service with a kiss on their forehead or on their hand. 1 Kings 19:18 Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.
3. We know his sign: A kiss. Romans 11:4 But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal. Luke 22:48 But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?
4. We know his nationality: Assyrian from one of the tribes of Israel. Isaiah 10:5 O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation. Daniel 11:37 Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.
5. We know his number: 666. Six is the number of man and 666 is the number of a man the antichrist. Revelation 13:18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

6. We know his religion: He established a new religion that is old and started with Nimrod, King Ahab established the religion of Baal in Israel and the false prophet will establish this religion as a new religion in the tribulation period. 1 Kings 16:32 And he reared up an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he had built in Samaria. 1 Kings 16:33 And Ahab made a grove; and Ahab did more to provoke the LORD God of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel that were before him.

Revelation 13:3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
One of the heads were wounded to death. He was killed with a sword. Revelation 13:14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. He is wounded in his right arm and his right eye is blinded. Zechariah 11:17 Woe to the idol shepherd that leaveth the flock! the sword shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye: his arm shall be clean dried up, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened. The king of the seventh kingdom which is the anti-christ was wounded to death. He was of the seventh kingdom but when he is killed and come back to life he is the eighth. At this time, Satan incarnate himself in this man and he lives. Now he is the son of perdition. Revelation 17:11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition. The beast or anti-christ came out of the bottomless pit at the beginning of the tribulation period and is called the man of sin. Nobody knows about this resurrection of the dead but at the mid-point when he is killed the people see him come back to life and that is why they can say “who is like unto the beast?” Remember Moses and Elijah shows up on the earth as the two witnesses and then are kill and come back alive and go up into heaven. Revelation 11:11 And after three days and an half the spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.

Revelation 13:4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
The dragon gave him power over all the earth. Remember Satan offered the Lord Jesus Christ all the kingdom of the world if He would fall down and worshipped him. Here they worshipped the dragon that gave power to the beast because he had power over the earth.

Revelation:13:5: And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.
Revelation:13:6: And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.
Revelation:13:7: And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

The beast is given the last three and half years as the son of perdition. He is given a mouth to speak blasphemies and to make war and to over come the saints by cutting off their heads because they would not take the mark.

Revelation:13:8: And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
Revelation:13:9: If any man have an ear, let him hear.

Revelation 13:10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.

All the people that have believed that the Lord Jesus is the Christ and have not take the mark are in the book of life. Those that have their names written in the book of life are under the same system that they were under, the law. Their names could be blotted out if they didn’t endure to the end of the tribulation period. Exodus 32:32 Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin--; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written. Revelation 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. He tells the Nation of Israel that had to be patience and have faith so they could overcome the beast and all his wrath. The Body of Christ (the church) is also placed in the book of life when they believe.

Revelation:13:11: And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
There is another beast that comes up out of the earth. He has two horns like a lamb but he speaks like a dragon. This beast is the leader of all religions on the earth. He is the false prophet and is the third part of the unholy trinity. He will lead the world in worship of the beast. Revelation 16:13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.

Revelation 13:12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
Revelation 13:13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
Revelation 13:14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
We are living in the age of grace but the ministers of Satan are doing signs and wonders. The same thing is going on in the tribulation period. The false prophet has the power given him from Satan to do great signs and wonders before the people. Remember who requires a signs. The Nation of  Israel is the Nation that Satan tries to destroy because he knows that they are God chosen people.
Revelation 13:15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
The antichrist was an idolater who used images. God gives permission to Satan to give life to the image of the beast. When the people see these signs they believe that they must be the work of God. Remember what Elijah did with the prophets of Baal. They tried calling fire down from heaven but they didn’t have power to do that miracle but here Satan is able to give the false prophet that power. 1 Kings 18:29 And it came to pass, when midday was past, and they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that there was neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded.

Revelation 13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
The antichrist has power over the 10 kingdoms of that area but not all nations because some nations come to fight against him. Daniel 11:41 He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon. He makes it impossible to buy and sell without having the mark of the beast. The ones that will not take the mark have their head cut off but God does take the Nation of Israel down into the wildness and feed them for the last three and half years of the tribulation period. Rev 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

Revelation 13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Note, that there are three things that people must have to buy or sell. Either the mark, his name, or the number of his name.

Revelation 13:18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
The beast is a man that is resurrected not born. His number is 666. Revelation 17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition:
