The Book of the Revelation

CHAPTER 10

Chapter 10 has another break between the trumpet judgments. Six trumpets have sounded in Revelation Chapter 8 and 9, but the seventh trumpet does not sound until Revelation 11:15. Additional information was given to John with no time element attached to it. Many teach that when the seventh trumpet sounds it will be the rapture of the church but when Paul tells us in I Corinthians 15:52 "at the last trump." Check out the following verses in Chapter 10 and ask yourself, are these things going on today?

Revelation 10:1 And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:
This angel could be the Lord Jesus Christ but in Revelation 10:6 he sware by the one that created all things and we know that is the Lord Jesus Christ.

Revelation 10:2 And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth,

This is not the book of the seven seals because the seals have been open. This book could be the rest of John prophecy because these events are going on at the half way point of the tribulation period and forward.

Revelation 10:3 And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roareth: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices.
Revelation 10:4 And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.
John is told not to write down what the seven thunders had uttered at that time. These sayings will be revealed by the end of the Book of Revelation. Revelation 22:10 And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. A description of the Lord’s voice can be found in Chapter One. Revelation 1:15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.

Revelation10:5 And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven,
The sea referred to in the Book of Revelation is the Mediterranean Sea until you get to Revelation Chapter 21:1 where there will be no more sea. God's peace of ground is Palestine, therefore, it probably the Lord Jesus Christ standing with one foot on the Mediterranean Sea and the other on the earth. He is claiming position of the earth.

Revelation 10:6 And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:

When we read “time no longer” he is not talking about time ending because there would be no more earth if He was there. He is saying that time is up and these prophecies are going to be fulfilled.

Revelation 10:7 But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.
When the voice of the seventh angel begin to sound it is the middle of the week. This sound could extend to the end of the tribulation period. This is over a period of time and can’t be the mystery of the last trump when the church is caught off the earth. 1 Corinthians 15:51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 1 Corinthians 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. Those that believe the church will go through the tribulation period until the seventh triumph sounds don’t know that there is a triumph when the Lord returns and at the beginning of the 1000 years of reign by the Lord Jesus Christ. Matthew 24: 31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. Isaiah 27:13 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship the LORD in the holy mount at Jerusalem.

Revelation 10:8 And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth.
Revelation 10:9 And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.
The angel tells John to take the little book and eat it. It would make his belly bitter and it would be sweet as honey in his mouth. The little book is not identified but it could be the Word of God.
Psalms 119:103 How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

Revelation 10:10 And I took the little book out of the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.
Revelation 10:11 And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.
The little book was sweet as honey when he ate it but after he ate it his belly was bitter. This is because John was told that he had to prophesy what was going to happen to his people Israel in the tribulation period.
